365 Project Update

Posted by annagrace under About

Hi friends and followers! At this point I’m so far behind on posts that I don’t even want to think about it… You may be wondering what’s up. Well, to put it simply, last semester was a health nightmare for me! To give a bit more detail, I had several bad Rheumatoid Arthritis flare ups throughout the semester, some of which I mentioned already, but not every little flare up. Then I had a bad sinus infection just before Thanksgiving, then, three weeks before Christmas, I started to have really bad stomach pain. A week and three doctors later, they finally discovered that my gallbladder was inflamed and I had gall stones. So after a consultation with a surgeon, we decided it was necessary to have my gallbladder removed. SO I had surgery on the 20th of December and am still in recovery, but doing much, much better!

Needless to say, I haven’t been up to doing posts. Over Thanksgiving I was stressing a lot about this 365 project and how I was going to catch up, and I finally realized, with the help of my wonderful father, that I had enough in my life stressing me out and that while I should finish 365 creative projects eventually, the goal date of Feb. 2nd was really unrealistic, so I should set another goal. Obviously even more things have happened since Thanksgiving, so now I’m even more determined to not make this project stressful, and continue to make it more of a stress reliever, on my own time.

Because of this, my new goal completion date is May 10, which is two days after the last exam day of the semester when I will FINALLY have completed my bachelors degree of science in interior design! (yep… Still in school. That health stuff effected more than just this blog…) This date is a good three months plus past the original February date, so I may finish before that, but I’m going to pace myself and take it one day at a time!

You may have also noticed that I haven’t been putting the number of days behind I am anymore. That was one major piece of advice I took from my father, because he and I both realized it was stressing me out even more! So! Just posts, as much as I can, eventually totaling up to 365 days!

I have been working on some things over the past few weeks, mainly Christmas presents, so I have a few standby posts that I’ll start with!

I really appreciate all of the support I have gotten throughout this project from friends, family, and blog followers that I don’t even know! Without you all, I couldn’t push through til the end through sickness and health! I hope you all had a fabulous holiday season, however you celebrated, and that this new year brings great things for you all. I certainly hope that this year brings better health for me and I strive to have a better, more positive outlook on everything!

Love you all!

Days 83 & 84 postponed for a couple of days…

Posted by annagrace under About

I hate to do this after getting so behind last week, but I have seriously neglected my schoolwork lately. This week is the last week of classes before final exams and I’ve got to push through an exam, Astronomy labs, and 2 history papers that I have been putting off like a crazy person. All this will hopefully be done by Wednesday, but it might be Friday, so until then, I’m going to have to postpone this blog for the time being. I will really miss it, but I’ve got to push to the end of the semester! I promise that once this craziness is over, I’ll catch up with the blog ASAP!

So, I was planning on doing a project for my dad’s birthday today, but don’t have time…. But I think he completely understands! Love you Dad! Happy Birthday (again… I think that’s the 4th time I’ve said it today?)!

See you all on the flip side!

***UPDATE!***

Posted by annagrace under About

There’s been a few things going on with this site the past couple of weeks or so, so I just wanted to make you all aware of them!

First of all, there have been a few changes made to the site, for which I need to profusely thank Art Dude Graphics, who also helped me create this site to begin with!! We’ve added a couple of things to the side bar. First of all, there is now a Blogroll where I have linked to some of my favorite 365 projects! There are many, many more out there, but I tried to keep it down to a minimum. After that, we’ve added a tag cloud, so you can click any of the tags I’ve used, and see all the posts for that tag on one page! Next, we added a badge for the facebook page! Just click it and it will take you right to it! I hope that everyone will “like” Create A Day 365 By Anna Grace! Finally, we added the 365 badge which, when clicked, it will take you to Make Something 365 which, as I’ve mentioned before, is one of my main inspirations for this project. I hope that all these changes make it easier for you to follow this project and help you discover other awesome 365 projects!

I’d also just like to note that there’s been some confusion about commenting on posts. You don’t have to sign up for anything in order comment. I have to approve every comment to make sure it’s not spam before it is visible to the public, so that’s why you have to enter you email address. Also, I think it asks you to enter a website? You don’t have to do that if you don’t want to! I’ll post every comment I receive as long as it’s appropriate and relates to the post. I’ve had several that say things like, “this information on this subject was extremely helpful to me…” which I’m pretty certain are spam! So, real people out there who actually read the posts, comment away!! I love to hear your feedback and suggestions!

I already mentioned that my recap video from day 30 was posted on Make Something 365, but I just got my 365 Nerd Merit Badge in the mail, and I love it! I’ll be sure and post pictures later!

Just wanted to let you all know also that the photoshop creation from Day 33 has been featured on www.pauladeenridingthings.com! Yay! Right now it’s on page 4, but they add stuff fairly often, so you can also see it here. It’s gotten 1454 hearts so far! …Whatever that means on tumblr… I just created an account to post that haha!

I also want to say that this weekend I thought about this project a lot, and although sometimes it’s hard getting a project in every day, I’m really enjoying it and I think that it’s helped me find myself again creatively and in every aspect of my life, so, thank you, for being part of it and following along!

Anyways… Back to creating!

Create A Day 365: Full Description and Guidelines

Posted by annagrace under About
Hello friends, family, and future followers!
I have decided to take on a 365 project this year starting on my 23rd birthday, February 2, 2011. For those who don’t know, a 365 project is where someone does something – Anything! – every day for a year. Some other great 365 projects that inspired me to do this are Noah Scalin’s Skull-A-Day, Jen MacNeil’s In the New, and Marisa Lynch’s New Dress A Day, which are all really amazing projects that you can easily get sucked into for hours! So! I decided to start my own 365 project because of them! Why may you ask? Well, I’ve been following some of these 365-ers very closely, particularly Skull-A-Day, for some time and have seen what a difference these projects can make on people’s lives… not just the creators, but the followers as well! I’m not doing this to try and become famous and have thousands of followers like these people, but to prove to myself that I can do it! I also feel like right now I need something to focus on and get myself through the daily drag of school and work. I haven’t had much drive the past several months, and I feel like this is something that will help invigorate me again!
So! What’s my 365 going to be about? Well, I’ve thought about it a lot and have had a really hard time nailing it down to one thing I would like to do, so my 365 project will focus on creativity, in all of it’s forms. I will set out to do something creative everyday, whether it’s something musical such as writing/recording a new song or learning a new instrument or piece; something to do with the many forms of visual art like drawing, painting, sculpting, crafting, photography, digital art, etc.; or something with the literary arts such as poetry, short stories, or journaling. I think having multiple options will help me to continue and complete the 365 project and not get burnt out. I will also have some guidelines:
Create A Day 365: Guidelines
  1. I will do one creative project a day and document it.
  2. I will limit myself to 90 minutes maximum for each creative project so I don’t get caught up in a project for hours!
  3. I will be posting every night before I go to bed (sometimes this means around 2 am… sorry I’m a night owl!) and if I don’t make a post one day, I will do two the next day.
  4. I will limit myself to 3 posts in a day, so I don’t get too far behind!
  5. I will do more than one project on days when I have more time so I have backup posts ready for hectic days!
  6. I am open to any suggestions from you! I have a bunch of ideas for things to do, but not nearly 365 ideas, so if you have anything you think would be neat, such as pictures to draw/paint/photoshop, new pieces to play/sing, or different writing styles, let me know! I am definitely open to trying new things as long as it keeps within the 90 minute time limit!
I hope that you all will support me and push me to keep going through this year long project! I am so excited to start and I can’t wait to share my creative projects with you!
