Day 200!!!!!!(11 days late): Party In The U.S.A.

Posted by annagrace under Days 101-200

I am soooo late on this day, but I am officially 200 projects into this 365 project venture!! Like I said before, I will try and catch up ASAP and I still plan on finishing this Feb. 2, 2012!!

At any rate, to celebrate, we are going to Party!!! … In The U.S.A.!! We all know that Miley Cyrus song and know that while we may find her and her multiple personality disorder extremely annoying, no one can say that this song isn’t extremely catchy and fun! I heard this song in the car today and knew that I had to do it, ’cause I’m celebrating!!! I started by recording the melody while listening to it on headphones, then I recorded 2 separate guitar parts, which I repeated all the way through the song. I topped all of this off with a doubled chorus part and a bit of harmony! I added little effects to make it beachy and poppy, and I was done! Forgive the slight stumbling on the verse words…

Party In The U.S.A.

So there you have it! It doesn’t seem like I should be 200 days into this project yet, but really I should be even farther ahead! Thanks for bearing with me through the spottiness during moving, school starting, and breaking my wrist! And while I won’t promise that I won’t miss any more days, I will try my hardest not to get this far behind again and catch up ASAP!

A side note… these past several posts have been somewhat short because some of the keys on my computer arent working, so I am having to copy and paste them…. so bear with me! I hope to get it fixed this weekend!

I was hunting around for a song that had multiple parts that I could easily sing acapella for today’s post. I finally realized that I should search for barbershop arrangements! Well, I found several fun songs that I will save for later dates, but I also came across a crazy 4 part version of the hymn, A Mighty Fortress Is Our God! So I decided to give it a shot! It is a relatively short song, but it took a long while to write out and record because the parts were pretty complicated! Also, it was written for male voices, so I had to transpose it to an easier key for me. So, here it is!

A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

An interesting arrangement, but I like it!

Day 198(10 days late): Sympathies Card

Posted by annagrace under Days 101-200

A good friend of mine recently experienced the loss of someone very close to her. Since I cannot be there for her in person, I thought I would send her a handmade card to try and offer any support I can!

I just used a sheet of paper from a sketchbook folded in half with a bunch of prismacolor markers layered on top of each other. I spent about an hour and a half total on this doing all of the layers of marker. Here is the finished product!

And here is a close up of the rose…

I think overall it turned out pretty well, besides the wonky looking Y…. it got a little out of control. I hope my friend can get some comfort from this!

Day 197(10 days late): Face In Hole Creations 2

Posted by annagrace under Days 101-200

I used this site waaaayyy back on day 43 to make some funny pictures of myself in different scenarios. I decided to revisit that site today and came up with 6 more awesome and hilarious images!

The roles of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet will be played by Anna Grace Smith in tonight’s production of Titanic…

EEE! EEE! EEE!! WOO WOO!!!

AG phone home!!!

I make blue in a mans world!

(Get it?? Make blue instead of make do? yeah… that was super cheesy… sorry about that…)

…unless of course if its a food baby!

Where did my body g… oh look! A perfume bottle!!

Like I said last time, this site is basically photoshop for dummies, but it makes it so easy and fun! I think the last two are my favorite! That perfume one is actually sort of pretty!

As you may or may not know, Red Hot Chili Peppers is one of my all time favorite bands! I’m super excited because they have a new album coming out at the end of this month! I’m bummed that John Frusciante isn’t in this one, but I’m sure it will still be awesome! In honor of that, I decided to (quickly) record some of their songs!

These are in order of album release date. Keep in mind that I quickly recorded these and that I am a super nerdy white person and fail at the rapping style parts. But at least it is entertaining!

Under The Bridge

Otherside

Around the World

Can’t Stop

I think I did the best on Otherside, but I enjoy Around the World and Can’t Stop if purely for entertainment value. :D

I hope to get more than one post a day in this weekend to catch up some, but we’ll see!

Edited some more portraits in photoshop for this post! I will make this quick cause I am super tired!

This first image I just adjusted the color and then used the palette knife filter, then accented edges.

This next one I cut out my lips, changed the hue and saturation of everything else and used the film grain filter, then used the plastic wrap filter on my lips.

And this last one I made duotone, added a bit of noise to it, adjusted the contrast and did a very transparent gradient overlay to make the corners look a touch darker.

Yep. There you have it!

Day 194(10 days late): Turkey Meatloaf Muffins

Posted by annagrace under Days 101-200

I found two different recipes for meatloaf made with ground turkey on Weight Watchers that looked good, so I combined the two. I mostly stuck with the first recipe, but put the mix in muffin pans instead of a loaf because I liked the idea of having it pre-portioned. I won’t post the whole recipe here since it isn’t mine to post, but here are a couple of pics from the process.

Chopped  up onions and green peppers cooking with garlic.

The rest of the ingredients before mixing, besides meat. It called for salt, but apparently we were out of it, so I used soy sauce instead!

All ingredients mixed!

Here they are after baking for 30 minutes and then topping with a ketchup, mustard, brown sugar mixture, and baking 5 more minutes. I filled the pan a little too full because I didn’t want to make two batches (only one pan!) and therefore they overflowed a bit when baking…

DONE!!! Getting ready to dig in!

I ate this with a sweet potato (microwaved cause it is easier…) sprinkled with cinnamon and stevia! Overall it came out super yummy!! I love that I have leftovers that are already portioned out that I can take to work! And, since I used ground turkey breast, it is a much healthier alternative! I will definitely be making this again!

Day 193(11(!!!!) Days late): By My Side

Posted by annagrace under Days 101-200

Finally broke down and figured out exactly how many days behind I am behind and came up with an astonishing 11 days!!! That is kind of insane… but it happens. All I can say is, I will try catch up ASAP!

For this post I decided to do an acapella version of By My Side from the musical Godspell. One of the summers I went to Camp Henry, I went to the first Drama Camp they had, and we did a few songs from Godspell. Two of the camp councilors performed this song and I’ve been in love with it ever since! So I found some sheet music for it and recorded the melody. Unfortunately, the music I had didn’t have the melody, so I just sort of made it up as a went… See for yourself how that tuned out!

By My Side

One more post coming later tonight!

Anna Grace

I recorded this song forever ago, but couldn’t get it to save correctly, so I never posted it. Yesterday I figured out a different way of saving it and so I’m posting it now! It is Madonna’s This Used to Be My Playground!

Anyways, I recorded this while listening to the song on headphones. I then recorded the harmony the same way, but I absent-mindedly whistled parts of it as a was recording! I ended up liking the way it sounded, so I kept it!

This Used To Be My Playground

I particularly love this song because it is one of the many songs that a friend and I rock out to. :) So glad I finally get to post it!

Days 190-191(? days late): Arms

Posted by annagrace under Days 101-200

I’m a couple more days behind for many reasons, but I did work on this project for more than 2 days, this is going to count as 2 posts.

Ive already done one Christina Perri song, but I really love her newest single, Arms, so I decided to cover that one too! Pretty certain I just need to break down and buy her whole album… At any rate, I bought the sheet music for it for super cheap and started putting it into Garage Band! Well, this song is pretty intense in the piano part just because there are so many notes! It seems like, when you are listening to it anyway, a lot of the parts repeat themselves, but that is not the case! Anyways, I spent several hours the other day working on it and then a couple today finishing it and then recording! At any rate, here is the finished product!

Arms

Sorry that I missed more days… I will try and get a couple of posts in this weekend!!
