Day 322: CUPCAKES!!!!

Posted by annagrace under Days 301-365

So this isn’t super creative since I just used a boxed cake and icing, but I thought I’d share it anyways!

Tomorrow is my last day at my job, so I decided to make cupcakes to show my appreciation for those who have been so helpful! I just used the boxed Duncan Hines Butter Golden cake batter. I couldn’t decide on which icing I wanted to use, so I bought two of the new Duncan Hines Frosting Creations plain bases and the mixes to make cotton candy (which my roommate loves and she was having kind of a bad day) and caramel frosting!

I decided to make them a little more pretty than just slapping the icing on by putting it in zip-lock bags, cutting the tips and making my own piping bags! I started with the cotton candy… and they were a big mess! I cut the tip a little too big, so I had some issues with it being lumpy. Some of them look fine, but there’s a couple that aren’t too hot. :/

Then I did the caramel, which turned out little bit better because I cut the tip more. You can see one of them in the pic above, and here are the rest!

Here’s the best one, I think and an instagram photo for good measure!

They are so yummy! I think people at work will love them!

You all should know by now that I love the musical Spring Awakening! I’ve already done several songs from it and I hope that one day I’ll have done them all! In an effort to do that, I decided to record a couple of songs a capella that I hadn’t done before!

The first song is The Mirror-Blue Night. I started out a little low with this one for my range, but it gets higher as the song progresses, so I think it needed to be that low.

The Mirror-Blue Night

That song was pretty short, so I decided to do another one! The second song is The Dark I Know Well. I was reluctant to do this song at first because it’s about two of the girls being sexually abused by their fathers, but I decided I needed to tackle it anyways.

The Dark I Know Well

I think that both of these turned out pretty well for just single take a capella songs! I’ve just got a couple songs left, then I will have recorded the entire Spring Awakening Soundtrack!

Day 320: In Between

Posted by annagrace under Days 301-365

I recorded this and couple of other songs about a week ago, but kept forgetting to post them! At any rate, this song is In Between by Linkin Park. I really like this song because it’s much softer and calmer than the majority of LP songs, but still stays true to who they are.

I searched a bit for some chords and couldn’t really find any that worked for ukulele, so I adapted some I found to be easier. Just recorded this in one take.

In Between

I think it turned out pretty good! I was thinking about going to Market Square sometime and playing my uke and singing, and I think this one would be a good one to add to the mix! :)

A couple more posts coming up tonight, so keep your eye out for them!

Day 319: November Desktop Wallpaper

Posted by annagrace under Days 301-365

Yet again, I have fallen behind on these posts. I know I say this every time, but my life is actually insane right now. Like, more busy than ever before, so you’ll have to bear with me, but I promise that this blog will be done by my birthday! At any rate, since it’s now November and I missed a couple of months, I decided to do a desktop/wallpaper pattern!

As always, I used the latest collection of Benjamin Moore colors chosen by Pottery Barn for every single color in this. A side note: I learned last night that the new CEO of Ben Moore decided to cut ties with Pottery Barn in order to finance better advertising, so while Pottery Barn will still recommend BM colors, they’re no longer officially affiliated. At any rate, I decided since all of November has us hungrily awaiting the end of the month’s Thanksgiving feast, I would use a turkey theme for this desktop. So I found a simple clip-art of a turkey and changed the colors, then changed the colors of everything else in the background. I chose to use American Typewriter as the font for “November” because, after all, Thanksgiving is an American holiday! I also added a little fall leaf to the calendar to mark when Thanksgiving day is, because I don’t know about you, but I always forget if it’s the third week of November, or what! Here’s the finished product:

As always, feel free to click on the above image to see it bigger and use it for your own computer! Here it is looking all snazzy on my desktop!

I think it turned out pretty good! I’m not sure if I’ll get turkey this Thanksgiving, but this sure makes me want some!

So, I thought I would just update you all on what’s going on in my life right now and ask you for your thoughts, prayers, positive energies, vibes or whatever you can give me! My hours at the paint store have been cut down a lot, to the point where I am forced to find a new job ASAP! I think of it as a good thing, because I really need to find something that’s better for me, health-wise, and that uses my degree more! But, I’m looking really hard trying to find something, so I’ve been traveling all over the place interviewing. I’m hoping to  have figured this all out by the end of next week, so please pray for a fast response from those I’ve interviewed with!! On top of all that, I’ve also got to figure out HOW I’ll get moved to wherever, what to do about my apartment, and until I find a job, how I’m going to pay for everything! Things are so crazy right now, but I have faith that it will all work out! So thanks to all of you… friends, family, and those who follow that I don’t even know… for being there for me!
