Day 137(5 days late): Chicago Pics

Posted by annagrace under Days 101-200

I finally have internet back, so I’m going to try and get a couple of posts in today!! I hate when I get this far behind, but there wasn’t much I could do about it…

Anyways, like the last day’s project, for day 137 I’m going to post some pictures from my trip! These will be of Chicago itself, mostly from the Architectural Boat Tour I took… which was amazing!! I highly recommend that anyone in the city, even for just a couple of hours, go on this tour, particularly if you’re an architecture/design lover like me!! All of these were taken on my Droid and most of them were with the Retro Camera app. There are a ton (and this is after I filtered a bunch out), so I’m making them pretty small and not going to say much about them… that and I forget what about 80% of them were haha!!

These next few are the Trump Tower… which is amazing! The sun behind it made it look very ominous! I wish I had gotten a picture of the base where it looks like it’s floating on pillars!

That last one is my favorite! There were several buildings by Harry Weese who liked to do triangular and rounded shapes and Mies Van Der Rohe who played with variations on the rectangular buildings (and also had some amazing furniture… he’s kind of a god :) ) just to name a couple. Some of their stuff is in these pics, as well as many others who’s names I’ve forgotten… whoops.

(Sears or Willis Tower)

There was another really amazing building designed by Jeanne Gang called the Aqua Tower that was completed in 2010. It’s designed to look like rippling water that’s pulled towards different sights and important parts of Chicago with curved balconies. It’s pretty amazing :)

These next two pictures are of the Opera House and then the building next to it that was designed to mimic the “throne” shape of the opera house.

And finally, most of the bridges in Chicago were originally designed as draw bridges to let large boats and other water-craft through. These 2 pics are of a bridge that’s always up.

Whew! So many pictures! I had such an amazing time in Chicago and I can’t wait to go back and spending longer than a couple of hours downtown. I know that that the interiors of many of these buildings are just as spectacular as the exteriors!! (and I would probably enjoy the insides even more :D )

Day 136(3 days late): Evanston, IL Pics

Posted by annagrace under Days 101-200

This weekend I went to Chicago/Evanston, IL for my sister’s graduation from Northwestern University. While I was there, I took a lot of pictures of both Evanston and Chicago, and will be posting the Chicago ones tomorrow, but for this post, I’m sharing some pictures of Evanston. I took all of them with the Retro Camera App on my Droid. There’s several, so I’ll just get right to it.

The first set is the Baha’i Temple, which is just ridiculously beautiful and amazing!

This next one is the program at her graduation.

And I took this next picture of the sound clouds at the graduation because I thought it was cool  how they reflected everything.

These last pictures are looking out at Lake Michigan on the walking trail at Northwestern.

You can barely see Chicago off in the distance!!

I had a lot of fun on this trip. So much so that I’ve gotten behind on posts. I’ll get caught up tomorrow, hopefully!

Day 105(4 days late): Lab on Droid Day 4

Posted by annagrace under Days 101-200

I’m sure all of you are as sick of these lab app posts as I am, but I promise this is the last one and I’m going to work something else out until I get my new computer charger in the mail.

BUT, this post is a little special because it features my dog, Chai, and my mom’s roommate’s puppy, Baxter! These pics are from Christmas, I think, so Baxter’s gotten a lot bigger since then!

Chai and Baxter could rule the world :)

Sketch of puppy love!

D’Awwwww! So precious!

The pups love My Little Pony!

Cheesy dolphin love!

Dandelion poofs!

Look at that hottie!!

Gaga loves the puppers!!

So… hopefully I can figure out something else to do for posts, but I think we’ve had more than enough of these silly pictures. I’ll work something out!

Day 102(5? days late): Lab on Droid

Posted by annagrace under Days 101-200

I think I’m 5 days behind… not sure but I’ll figure it out tomorrow. Anywho, like I said, I’m without a computer right now, but I decided to do some posts anyways on my phone, so if they’re sort of janky, just bear with me.

I discovered an Android app a few days ago called Lab, which is sort of like for Droid phones. So, for the next few posts, that’s what I’m going to do. So, here’s this bunch:

I like being the artist’s inspiration lol

That dog reminds me if my old Jack, Java :(

A picture is worth 1,000 words :D

Graphite Muse

Van Gogh’s Muse

Can Dr. House cure me?

Joker’s lucky card

Anna Grace Kaleidescope!

A couple more posts of lab pics and hopefully by then I’ll have my charger for my laptop!

Day 101(1 day late): Droid Draw Pad 2

Posted by annagrace under Days 101-200

I didn’t get a post in yesterday because I had graduation!! I was running around all day getting ready, visiting family, seeing friends, and celebrating in general, so didn’t do anything for the blog. And today was spent relaxing, hanging out with friends, and enjoying the first Saturday off in an extremely long time where I had absolutely nothing to do!! So I was able to work on one post today while watching episodes of Glee with a friend, but probably won’t get to today’s post until tomorrow.

Since I was at my friend’s apartment, I didn’t have all my usual crafting/art/music/generally creative supplies (and it was really impromptu), so I used my HTC Droid Incredible again with the Draw Pad App like on Day 4. The first drawing started as me just doodling aimlessly, but then it started to sort of look like an eye, so I just went with it!

The next thing I drew was a lamp in the same grayscale colors as the eye.

And finally, I attempted to draw a shoe….

I will definitely catch up with my missed post tomorrow!!

Day 50(1 day late): As Long As You Love Me

Posted by annagrace under Days 1-100

I have internet again!!!!! Yay!! So, for yesterday’s post I pulled out the old 1998-1999 Smash Pop Hits book again and decided to do As Long As You Love Me by the Backstreet Boys!! I wasn’t really into this boy band as much as some girls my age since I knew that it was set in stone that I would marry Taylor Hanson (That’s him with his wife and four kids!!!), but I did definitely have a thing for Brian Littrell (Seriously. How cute is he?!). :D I remember watching this video and thinking it was sooooo awesome! Now I watch it and I laugh at how utterly 90′s it is! Nick definitely knew how to rock the bleach blonde center part haha!

Anyways, I decided to explore my droid market and see if there were any musical instrument apps, and came across Solo Lite, which basically pre-loads guitar chords and you can strum along! So I decided to attempt using this app while recording the song… so some parts are very off, but c’est la vie! I then wrote out the melody, recorded the main voice part and added drums effects and what-not.

As Long As You Love Me

I screwed up the end pretty royally, but I was totally over recording it again (it’s a little low for me so I was losing my voice!), so I just left it as is!

By the way, can you believe we’re 50 days in??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!! INSANITY! When we hit the 2 month mark, I’ll be doing another recap like I did at the month mark, so stayed tuned for that!

Also, my project for today is taking a lot longer than planned (waiting on stuff to dry!), so I will probably be doing two posts tomorrow to catch up!

Day 45(1 day late): Chattanooga Pictures

Posted by annagrace under Days 1-100

As I mentioned in the last post, I went to Chattanooga for an overnight trip on Thursday. On Friday, we went to this awesome place called Aretha Frakensteins for brunch, which was amazing, but took a long time!! Too many people wanting good hangover food, I guess! Anyways, while driving over there, I was noticing some really cute/fun looking houses, so on the way back, I had Perrin slow down so I could take some pictures! I took all of these pictures with my Droid using the Retro Camera App. Here’s just a few.

First shot I took

I thought the Suntrust building was a cool mix of modern and old.

Really like this one for some reason…

Awesome green house!

Another house!

I liked the butterfly roof on this building.

First Tennessee bank… this is my favorite pic :)

Random billboard for the Center for Advanced Lung Care with giant lungs on it… it looks pretty hilarious to me!

And when I got back to Knoxville, I had to go to World’s Fair Park because it was so beautiful out, so I took the opportunity to take a picture of my Glitter Toms with the Sunsphere to send to the website’s How We Wear Them section. :P

This was a pretty awesome trip. I’m sad that I have to end spring break and go back to school on Monday :(

Day 4: Droid Draw Pad

Posted by annagrace under Days 1-100

Today’s creation is brought to you by my Droid Incredible. I am currently at a friends apartment enjoying a few movies, so I don’t have my computer to do a post like I normally would. So, I decided to do some quick drawings using the Draw Pad app on my phone. I discovered that it is actually really hard to draw on my phone, but these were my best attempts!

This was an attempt at a flower… pretty colors, though!
