Day 126: Let It Be

Posted by annagrace under Days 101-200

Had a really crazy busy day at work today and I have to be back there at 7 am (uuugggghhhh…) so I’m going to make this short.

I decided to do another tune on ukulele because it was something I had already practiced and could bust out pretty quickly tonight, and I’m trying to play every day to build up my callouses! As you probably know by now, I love the Beatles! So when I came across a fairly simple arrangement of Let It Be for uke, I jumped on it! That first link is the original Beatles, which is amazing, of course, but that second link is from the movie Across the Universe (be careful… you will probably most definitely cry!! But it’s sooooo good, too!!), and I sort of sang it in more that style. I admit, it’s sort of a half-assed recording just because I’m so tired, but I think it’s alright!

Let It Be

I’m going to bed…

Day 79(1 day late): Because

Posted by annagrace under Days 1-100

Continuing in the Beatles theme from day 78, for yesterday’s post, I did my rendition of their song Because. (That’s the original song (ignore the comic sans… ouch) and here’s the version from Across the Universe :) ) Because has always been one of my all time favorite Beatles songs, mainly because it’s just so dang beautiful and haunting, but also because this song showcases the harmonic genius of the Beatles. They were so great at harmonizing together, and I think that’s something that a lot of current music lacks. And that’s probably why I love Glee so much :)

Anyways, I just found the sheet music for this song online and put in the piano part. Then I recorded all three vocal parts! Enjoy!

Love me some Beatles! :P

Today’s post coming later tonight!!

Day 78(1 day late): Beatles Karaoke

Posted by annagrace under Days 1-100

Okay, this is the last Myspace Karaoke post, I promise! … At least for awhile anyways!

For yesterday’s post, I decided to pay tribute to The Beatles who, as you already well know, I love! Myspace Karaoke actually has a pretty large selection of Beatles songs, so I figured why not do a few of them?

So the first song is Lovely Rita! I sort of had to do this because my car is named Rita after this song :D (My previous car was Roxanne after the Police song :) ). I recorded this one in the Myspace Recorder so you have to click the link to get it. So, here’s my tribute to my Lovely Rita, even if she has a lot of issues and is gas guzzling… I still love her! (Don’t mind the awkward breathing part at the end… I have no rhythm with my inhale and exhale, apparently)

Lovely Rita!!

Next, I did If I Fell. That clip is actually from the movie Across The Universe, but I love this version of it! Anyways, every time I recorded this online, the playback was very delayed to the music track, so I ended up recording my voice alone in Garage Band, and then recording the instrumental track straight off the computer. I added some effects to make it stand out some more, and I feel like this worked better than the 100 Years recording from day 76. Sorry about the octave change… it was too low to sing where written throughout and too high to sing up an octave throughout.

If I Fell

The last song is I Am The Walrus! That video is totally awesome and trippy, but this one from Across the Universe is even more so (literally… in the movie they’re literally tripping…  yay bright colors!! ), and Bono is a God, of course! I recorded this one the same as If I Fell. It’s a little rough, and I botched some of the lyrics, but I love this song! I was trying to emote… don’t know how well it worked…

I Am The Walrus

So! The Myspace Karaoke thing is good for a quick music post, when it works right and doesn’t lag, but it’s also fun for doing karaoke with friends!

Today’s post will be done tomorrow, as well as the one that’s supposed to be for tomorrow! Catching up, slowly but surely!

Day 29: All My Loving Recorder DUET!

Posted by annagrace under Days 1-100

I’m continuing The Beatles theme today with All My Loving! I looked around a bit on the interwebs and came across a 2 part version of this for recorder, but there were 2 problems with it though. First of all, it was in a bad key to do soprano and alto recorder, and second of all, it was only the first verse! :o So I took that and transposed it to the key that’s in that book from yesterday and then wrote the rest of the alto part. It’s a pretty simple version of it, but I like it pretty well.

All My Loving

Definitely not as peppy as the original, but that’s alright :)

I also love the version of this in Across the Universe. If you’ve never seen that movie, do yourself a HUGE favor and rent it or netflix it or whatever you have to do to get it, because it’s one of the most amazing movies ever!!! At least, in my opinion. I mean, you can’t go wrong with The Beatles, right? That and Jim Sturgess and Joe Anderson are beautiful :P

I had to do it… sorry ! :D

By the way, I contacted the company I got the Beatles book from today and they said I could send it back and get a refund… not sure if I’ll do that or not yet.

In other completely unrelated news, I came across this site today and fell in love. :) I’m contemplating some epic photoshopping for that site as well as mine! Be on the lookout! Here’s on gem of an example from the site :D :D :D :D :D

Hahahahaha I LOVE IT!!!!

Hope you love it, too! :)

Day 28: Recorder Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da!

Posted by annagrace under Days 1-100

Remember that recorder book that I told you all about the other day that I ordered? Well IT’S HERE!!!!!!

Bow down to it’s glory!

YES! It’s The Beatles!!! For recorder!! I obviously had to purchase this when I saw it :) . I love, love, love The Beatles! The only downside is the preview of it on the site I ordered it from showed duets, and this book only has solo recorder :( :o !!! I’m still using it for at least today’s post, but I will be contacting the company, because that is definitely false advertising!

At any rate, I decided to record one of the most fun Beatles songs ever, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da! I contemplated coming up with a second part to this, but I honestly don’t have the time or energy today, so I just recorded the solo part by itself. Also, I didn’t use a metronome because it was screwing me up, so bear with the uneven tempos! Oh, and I did this all in one take and I usually divide it up so… there ya go.

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da

I have a fond memory of hanging out in my dorm room freshman or sophomore year with some of my best friends I’ve made in college rocking out to this song on repeat! I remember on one of the choruses, my friend Brian was singing, “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, life goes on…” and when he said “bra!” he grabbed my bra that was hanging on my closet door and  danced around with it!!! Hahaha so so funny… I miss those days :(

Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, BRA!!!!!

By the way, good luck getting this song out of your head… I know it will be in mine for a few days! :D
